 Computers and Related Equipment
Funding Assistance Project.

Project Description. A top priority project for St. Mary's School for school year 2005, the Computer and Related Equipment project calls for funding support towards the purchase of 16 to 18 net-work ready computers. Dr. Dennis Faustino, the incoming SMS principal and Engr. Rufino Bomasang, the SMSSI Chairman of the Board are appealing to alumni and friends to make this a top priority in their SMSS funding support or fund-raising involvement for year 2005.

As provided for in the 5-Year Development Plan, SMS students will be trained in the use of computers (and the internet) as a tool for literacy in consonance with its mandate of making the school a source of good quality education. The computer laboratory has just been finished according to schedule [thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends] and is now ready to be equipped with 16 to 18 computers in time for the opening of the 2005-2006 school year in June.

A retired computer expert from the University of Cincinnati, Mr. Kent Sinkey, who have been helping St. James School Besao,  the Sagada National High School and St. Mary's School on computer related projects has volunteered his computer consultancy services to the three schools. So to prospective donors of computers to SMS, rest assured that your  computer donations will be educationally maximized by St. Mary's School Students. To have an idea of what can be expected from Mr. Kent Sinkey click on: Information Technology Biography of Kent Sinky.

Project Cost. A good computer [but not top-of-the-line computer]  Costs around  seven hundred fifty dollars [$750.00] or forty one thousand and two hundred fifty Philippine Pesos [P41,250.00]. The total project cost is therefore estimated at:

  • 16 computers x US$750.00 = US$12,000.00 or

  • 16 computers x P41,250.00 = P660,000.00

Project Status. A committee is currently being formed to lead and coordinate a funding initiative towards the purchase of these 16 to 18 computers. Please click on "Computer and Related Equipment Funding Assistance Committee " to get more details on this committee.
