SMS Operating Budget.

During the next 2 school-years [2004 and 2005] when a yearly deficit of 1,000,000 Philippine pesos  [or about US$18,000] is projected, the Chairman of the Board of St. Mary's School, Sagada is appealing to all SMS alumni and friends to make the SMS Operating Budget a top priority consideration for donations. According to Engr. Rufino Bomasang, we need to address this deficit during the transition period when more sustainable sourcing of funds have yet to be put in place and take roots. He says that there are currently 3500 SMS alumni and assuming only 1000 of them are in a position to support SMS regularly during the transition period, all they need to pledge is an average of just 1000 pesos per person per year, or only 85 pesos  a month (less than 2 dollars at an exchange rate of 55 pesos per 1 U.S. dollar). Of course higher than $2.00 monthly donations are most welcome from alumni and friends particularly from those gainfully employed overseas.
