The following are some selected articles/emails saved or culled from the internet that may be of interest to SMS Sagada Alumni and Friends.

  • An Open Letter to the Rt. Rev. F. R. Graves, D.D., Bishop of Shanghai and Bishop in Charge of the Missionary District of the Philippine Islands: from the Rev. John A. Staunton, Jr., Priest-in-Charge of the Mission of St. Mary the Virgin, Sagada, Philippine Islands. Sagada: The Igorot Press, 1919. This open letter is posted here not so much to inform the differences of Fr. Staunton with the Bishop of Shanghai, but because the letter gives an insight as to the philosophy and what maybe called Fr. Staunton's strategic plan, which he pursued with passion, to Christianize and educate the Sagada Igorots. These are highlighted [by maltreb aslagal] in colored fonts or letterings.

  • Christian Education in the Philippines. This article is posted here as a reference on the subject of Christian education. You may want to compare the concepts discussed in this article with that pursued by Fr. Staunton in his Sagada Mission.

  • From Bare Feet to Academic Accolades The principal character here, Dr. Andrew  Bacdayan of Banga-an, Sagada is a graduate of St. Mary's School and the article  is posted here as testimony to our claim that through SMS many Igorots were able to educate themselves and gain lofty positions in their chosen fields of endeavors. http://www.lamar.edu/news/story.asp?ID=303

  • The Sagada Postboy circa 1953 The Sagada Postboy has a long history. This edition is posted here as a challenge to current SMS students - that it shall never be said that the Postboy died in their watch.

  • The Centennial Homecoming. Highlights of Centennial home coming by Nellie Ballola. This email is posted here to inform alumni and friends about concrete accomplishments as well as offers of support towards rehabilitating SMS. The email is posted here in the hope that other alumni and friends maybe encouraged to likewise support the vision and mission of SMS in whatever means that is comfortable with them.

  • Philippine church recalls paradoxical history. It has been said that Igorots were never conquered by the sword; only by the cross. In a way this article substantiates that claim.
