Many intelligent children never grow up to become great as they should be. One reason is they don't have the opportunity to study and develop their intellectual gifts because of financial difficulties. St. Mary's School (SMS), a non-profit humanitarian institution located in Sagada, Mountain Province had been the recipient of scholarship grants from Alumni, friends of SMS, as well as from religious and/or humanitarian institutions, mainly from overseas. With these scholarship grants, quite a number of qualified children from indigent families of the indigenous tribes of Northern Philippines [Igorots] were able to receive good quality and Christian education from SMS. Many of these children grew-up to become responsible citizens serving as priests, engineers, teachers, doctors, nurses, accountants, business men, military men, civil servants, etc.. They have contributed to the development and progress of the MABIKA provinces [Mountain Province, Apayao, Bontoc, Ifugao, Kalinga and Abra] or what is now known as the Cordillera Administrative Region [CAR] of Northern Philippines.
Scholarship grants/contributions or any questions related thereto may be directed to the President of the St. Mary's Alumni Association: For and in behalf of the SMS Alumni, Thank you so much and God bless. Shalom, Esther Padalla Pietermann
